On Wednesday 19 August 09, to launch Popsamiti paper we held a debate at Borders bookshop in Charing Cross, London. Titled 'Debating South Asian Arts and Culture".It was a great night with many interesting points made and to a packed house. Thanks to everyone who came. On the panel were Dr Kishore Budha, Parminder Vir and Parmjit Singh.I chaired the event (for the first time ever!) with Sundjata co - facilitating the discussion. The event was filmed and edited by artist Ronit Meranda. Before we began, writer and poet Dina Begum performed three of her poems. Artist in residence for the event, Priya Saujani performed a public interaction 'The Whole Six Yards'.Part of a series which outlines and documents the reactions of the public towards her dressed in a sari. As part of this she invited audience members to write down their thoughts on her sari. Unfortunatley, Priya's not in the video. |
